Llanfair is a free software that helps speedrunners keep track of their run. Released in August 2012, its capacity for customization and its portability allowed it to garner some recognition in the scene. Developed in Java, Llanfair can run on Windows, MacOS, or Unix. More information on Llanfair and its behavior can be found on the help page.
If you encounter another problem, please read the paragraph below. If that does not adress your problem or if you want to share your feedback and suggestions, you can join our Discord server and contact Xunkar. Remember however that developement for Llanfair 1.x is halted.
Llanfair requires a Java virtual machine (Java 6 or above), make sure you have one installed. If not, check Java.com to download the most recent version. Mac users also need to enable access to the assistive devices to allow Llanfair to capture out-of-focus inputs. This is the ability to capture inputs even if Llanfair is not the active window.
To enable accessibility in OS X 10.9, open the System Preferences and click on “Security & Privacy”. In the “Privacy” tab, click on “Accessibility” and the lock icon at the bottom of the window. Once you have entered your password, tick the checkbox next to “Java JRE”. If Java does not appear in the list, start Llanfair once (it will crash) to make it appear.
To enable accessibility in OS X 10.8 or lower, open the System Preferences and click on “Accessibility” (“Universal Access” in older versions). Tick the checkbox that reads “Enable access for assistive devices” and enter your password.
When I first started working on Llanfair, I never imagined it would grow up to that extent. To push Llanfair farther and add more features became difficult as the application was not designed with such flexibility in mind. Llanfair was also my first project of this scale, reaching over 6,000 lines of code.
Now that I have more experience, I want to go back to the foundations of Llanfair by proposing a completely overhauled version 2.0. Unfortunately, many difficulties have arisen early in the development. I do not currently know when or if this new version will be released though.
